What does the GCCC Planning Application Include?
Ground Expansion
Increase from 3668 seats to 18500 seats (plus 1500 temporary seats in front of pavilion)
Stands 5.6m to 6.8m in height down Kennington Ave & City College side
New Pavilion significantly higher at Nevil Rd end of Lancashire Rd
Students
Accommodation blocks now for 350 students (reduced from 550).
9 storey blocks (25m) have been reduced to 6 storeys (16m high)
Proposal is have to have accommodation empty for majority of cricket season.
End block moved further away from houses (now 60m was 22m)
Access to accommodation from Ashley Down end only
No car rule to be enforced by local residents
The No car lease is a new planning principle and there are no examples of it being legally enforceable
Conference & Functions
New main suite to hold 330 people, plus suites for 250, 180 & 100.
This total function capacity for 860 is approx three times the current capacity.
Parking for delegates will be inside ground, the new ground is to have the same on site spaces as the current total 165
Traffic/Parking
Main vehicle entrance to switch to Ashley Down side, Nevil Rd to be Pedestrian & Cycle only
Current traffic management plans to be retained
Residents’ parking zone not to be considered
Nevil Rd to be closed to all vehicles on large match days, residents' will also be prevented from parking on Nevil Rd.
Double yellow lines added to many local roads

No limitation to number of events/big matches in planning application.
Planning process summary
September “Hybrid” submission - Full detailed permission sought for extensions to the Pavilion (New Media Centre, Gym and Conference facilities) and ‘outline’ permission for the Stands and student accommodation.
A separate detailed planning application will be made for around 5,000 permanent seats as Phase 1 of the Ground improvements (Mound stand). Details of the rest of the Stands and student accommodation will be submitted later
